Privacy by design. Welance is built on data minimization. We collect only what is necessary to connect Clients and Professionals for an appointment. We do not store payment card numbers, we do not operate an in-app chat, and we therefore do not hold the content of conversations between users.

1. Our approach to privacy

This Privacy Policy explains how Welance (“we,” “us,” “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards personal data when you use the Welance mobile applications, website, and related services (the “Platform”). It should be read together with our Terms of Service. We design our systems to collect the least data necessary to operate the Platform.

2. Who is responsible for your data

The data controller is the United States limited liability company that operates Welance. For any privacy request, contact privacy@welance.app.

3. Data we collect

We collect the following categories, and only for the purposes described in Section 5:

4. What we deliberately do NOT collect

  • Payment card numbers. Card and bank credentials are entered into and held by our payment processors (Stripe, Apple Pay, Google Pay), never by Welance.
  • Conversation content. Welance has no in-app chat. Messages between Clients and Professionals occur on third-party messaging apps and are never transmitted through or stored by us.
  • Continuous or background tracking. We use location to determine a city for matching; we do not track your live movements in the background.
  • Special-category data. We do not ask for, and request that you do not submit, health, biometric, religious, or other sensitive personal data.

5. How we use data

  • To create, authenticate, and secure your account;
  • To publish Professional listings and enable Clients to discover and request appointments;
  • To process the booking fee and subscription purchases through our payment processors;
  • To verify contact handles and locations so listings are trustworthy;
  • To display reviews tied to completed appointments;
  • To prevent fraud, abuse, and prohibited activity, and to enforce our Terms;
  • To provide support and to comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for third-party advertising.

6. Legal bases (where GDPR or similar laws apply)

We process personal data on the bases of: performance of our contract with you (operating the Platform); your consent (e.g., device location, which you may withdraw in settings); our legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, service improvement); and compliance with legal obligations.

7. Sharing & service providers

We share data only as needed to run the Platform:

  • Payment processors (Stripe, Apple Pay, Google Pay) — to process payments. They act as independent controllers/processors under their own privacy terms.
  • Cloud hosting & infrastructure providers — to host the Platform securely.
  • Other users — a Professional's public listing is visible to Clients; once a booking is confirmed, verified contact details are shared between the two parties to that booking.
  • Authorities — where required by law, or to investigate fraud, safety, or prohibited conduct.

We do not otherwise disclose personal data to third parties for their own purposes.

8. Location data

With your permission, we use your device location to determine your city and match you with nearby users, and to verify and lock a Professional's working location. You can disable location permission in your device settings, though core matching features may not function without it.

9. Payment data

Payments are handled exclusively by PCI-DSS-compliant processors. Welance receives only limited, non-sensitive transaction metadata (such as a payment reference, status, and amount) needed to confirm a booking or subscription. We never receive or store your full card number, CVV, or bank credentials.

10. Data retention

We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes above: for the life of your account, plus a limited period afterward to meet legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, and dispute-resolution obligations. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it. You may request deletion as described below.

11. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any right, email privacy@welance.app. We will respond within the timeframe required by law. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

12. Security

We apply administrative, technical, and organizational measures appropriate to the risk, including encryption in transit, access controls, and reliance on certified processors for sensitive operations such as payments. No system is perfectly secure, but minimizing the data we hold is itself a core security control.

13. International data transfers

Welance is operated from the United States and uses providers that may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for cross-border transfers.

14. Children

The Platform is intended for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

15. Changes & contact

We may update this Policy from time to time; the “Last updated” date will change and material changes will be notified through the Platform. For any privacy question or request:
